CST indicated that the demo of the Wi-Fi 6E reaches 2.4 Gbps, which is (6) times more than the previous generation. The activation of this technology stems from the Commission's role as a digital regulator in the ICT sector, and its efforts in regulating Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) with the goal of enabling the deployment of the latest WiFi technologies in the Kingdom, as well as promoting the adoption of modern digital technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The Kingdom launched the newest generation of Wi-Fi 6E technologies at LEAP22, in order to boost the returns of the digital economy and support investment in emerging wireless technologies. Ultimately, the WiFi technologies’ contribution to the Kingdom’s GDP is expected to quadruple.
In LEAP23, the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) showcased a live demonstration of the fastest WiFi in the world “Wi-Fi 6E” by conducting live interactive comparisons to measure communications speed with the previous generation of WiFi, in partnership with Mobily and Cisco. These trials highlight the Kingdom's position as a global leader in the total spectrum made available to WiFi technology, as well as its access to the most advanced wireless technologies.
