• Around 26 million orders were made during since the Covid-19 lockdown.
• Riyadh province comes in first in numbers of orders, with more than 46% of overall orders. 

Today, The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) revealed that the total value of orders made through delivery applications has reached more than two billion Saudi Riyals since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, explaining that the total rnumber of orders have reached 26 million, with an increase of up to 250% prior to the pandemic.

Furthermore, CITC specified that the Riyadh province acquired the majority of the orders with 46% of the total number of orders, followed by the Makkah province with 26%, while 13% of the orders were executed in the eastern region. CITC also revealed an increase in the number of delivery applications registered with the commission since the beginning of the Covid-19 lockdown, with an improvement rate of 310% after it reached a total of 41 applications, providing delivery services in 246 cities and governorates in various regions of the Kingdom. Since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, CITC has partnered with many government agencies, in order to ensure the effectiveness of this vital sector by establishing guidelines and regulatory frameworks; To improve its operational efficiency, raise its capacity and qualify delivery applications from an organizational and operational point of view.

 To keep pace with the increasing demand for various applications since the beginning of the pandemic, CITC also joined forces  with the Ministry of Commerce in launching an initiative aimed at linking supply stores, pharmacies and medical supplies stores with delivery applications registered with CITC; In order to ensure that the beneficiaries' needs are easily met and delivered to their homes.
