The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has launched the first phase of its experimental regulatory environment “Regulatory Sandbox" to provide innovative solutions developed by telecom service providers and allowed the registry of Saudi Telecom Company (STC), Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) and the Saudi Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain) as first participants in the pilot Regulatory Sandbox.
The move aims to provide digital services and smart solutions to government agencies, contributing to supporting decision-making and achieving goals.
The pilot phase of the Regulatory Sandbox seeks to create a flexible and stimulating environment for telecom service providers to develop business and employ smart solutions. It will accelerate the digital transformation process of government agencies, in line with the strategic directions the telecommunications and information technology sector is headed towards, based on Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
It's noteworthy that the experimental regulatory environment comes within the commission's initiatives to develop the telecommunications sector towards the highest standards, provide an attractive environment for development and innovation, and promote investment in the digital economy.
