In coordination with the security authorities in Jeddah, the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) carried out inspection tours at telecom markets to monitor and control violations and verify their compliance with the Telecommunications Act.
The authority seized a group of illegal network boosters, which would negatively affect the level of service provided to nearby users and result in radio interference that negatively affects telecommunications services.
Filed reports to Telecommunications Act Violations Review Committee will refer violators to the concerned authorities to take the necessary measures against them per the law.
The authority had previously announced that fines for the supply and sale of illegal telecommunication devices in the Kingdom amount to SR 25 million per the Telecommunications Act.
These inspections tours come within the authority’s framework to protect users from illegal practices and work to provide high-quality telecommunications services.
