The Minister of Communication & Information Technology, and Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s digital regulator, the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, and The Governor of CST Dr. Mohammed Altamimi, congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and the Prime Minister on the conclusion of another successful Hajj season.
H.E. The Minister of Communication & Information Technology announced the success of the ICT operational plan in the Hajj season 2023, stating that this year saw a significant increase in pilgrims using telecom services, while Hajj preparations and plans exceeded expectations in fulfilling the demand through collaboration with telecom companies and government and private entities related to the Hajj season.
On the other hand, H.E. The Governor of CST explained that the networks' performance in Makkah AlMukarramah and AlMadina AlMunawarah was expanded through more than 6000 mobile networks, with 74% increase compared to 2019. 5G networks reached 2900 station, with 1205% increase compared to 2019; while the wifi points amounted more than 10500, with 118% increase to 2019.
The volume of data traffic has exceeded 49K TB which is equivalent of 20 million hours of 1080p video, while the average download speed had hit 222 Mbit/second; all is a result of the robust infrastructure and the availability of WiFi networks.
H.E. CST Governor concluded his statement by congratulating the pilgrims and wishing them a safe return to their loved ones, and wishing this country prosperity and security.
