H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Altamimi the Governor of Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), witnessed the opening session of the World Radiocommunication Conference “WRC23”, with the presence of the ITU Secretary-General, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, and senior officials in the telecommunications sector from around the world as well as over 4,000 participants from national government entities, telecommunications regulatory authorities, as well as specialized organizations and the private sector.
H.E. Altamimi headed the Saudi delegation, representing 20 government organizations and private entities, to participate the conference. Altamimi held several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference with a number of officials from international regulatory entities, in addition to meeting with several CEOs and heads of delegations from private sector companies in the communications, space and technology field.
Saudi Arabia led international and regional discussions and topics in Radiocommunication, since it chaired the GCC group in the preparatory meeting for “WRC23”, and held many positions in the conference's working and advisory groups. In addition, Saudi has an active role in seeking collaboration and creating consensus among states members to achieve mutual interests.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia promoted its aspirations to enable many innovative technologies through its participation in the World Radiocommunication Conference “WRC23”. These include the need to to cope with the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the next generation of network “6G”, Device-to-Device (D2D) communication, Mega-Constellations, Space sustainability and Space preservation for future generations by setting rules that address space debris issue.
