The Communications, Space and Technologies Commission (CST) announces the participation of 21 local and international companies in the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox’s (ETS) second cohort. The sandbox aims to create a flexible environment to launch innovative business models or solutions, support entrepreneurs and innovators, and develop the emerging technologies industry and promote the comprehensiveness of products available in the market, while understanding regulatory challenges faced by service providers, and facilitating the access of service providers to the local market.
The second cohort participants are utilizing a mixture of emerging technologies in their products, such as: Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twin, and Space Technologies, as well as augmented reality/virtual reality/extended reality (AR/VR/XR) and 3D/4D Printing. The participants are targeting many sectors with their innovative solutions such as telecommunications, industrial, health, and energy. CST’s ETS initiative provides a safe and flexible space to develop innovations based on emerging and space technologies while also promoting their adoption into other sectors.
At the end of 2023, CST announced the successful completion of the participation of 8 products in the first cohort that targets investors and companies. This achievement aligns with CST's efforts to enable new services, develop the digital economy, achieve flexibility and increase regulatory maturity, as well as promote collaboration among government entities, and protecting users, within a framework that drives economic growth and attracts investments.
