Under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Abdullah AlSwaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and the Chairman of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), the “Connecting the World from the Skies” Global Forum 2024 will kick off tomorrow in Riyadh under the title "Shaping the Future of Converged Connectivity", which is organized by CST and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The forum aims to keep up with the rapid development of telecom services, provide digital solutions to serve humanity, connect remote areas, and promote research and innovation in NTN technologies. Moreover, It will focus on enabling eco-friendly telecom infrastructure and enhancing the regulation of NTN and its usage in digital transformation.
The forum will include key subtopics, such as Seamless Connectivity for All, Towards WRC-27 & Beyond, D2D and Hybrid Connectivity, NTN, IoT, 5G & 6G Convergence, Space Economies and Emerging Markets, The Future of Lunar Communications, Security of NTN Networks and Building a Sustainable Space Future. These topics will take place through dynamic panel discussions and insightful presentations, featuring a distinguished group of leaders, experts, researchers, policymakers, investors and regulators across the world, with a main focus on ICT, Space and radio spectrum.
The forum will also showcase the top results of non-terrestrial networks trials and announce the winners of the second edition of the IEEE Competition on Non-Terrestrial Networks for 6G, which was launched by CST in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
CST is organizing the forum in partnership with the Saudi Space Agency as the Future Partner and NEO SPACE GROUP (NSG) as a Bronze Sponsor. Noting that the first edition in 2022 was organized in collaboration with ITU, which was attended by over 3,000 participants, and featured dynamic panel discussions, keynote presentations and insightful experiences in the field of NTN.
